Question #11700360

Help and advice on OCD...?

Hey, I wouldn't usually post online but really looking for some help and advice. I'm 21 and apart from my ocd (which is currently improving as i'm working on not giving in to rituals) I live a great and happy life! I have had OCD since I was about 14 and a couple years ago I watched a tv programme about something really horrible that happened to someone regarding terrorists and after watching this for some reason my OCD told me that in order for the thoughts to go away I had to google the victims name and if I did then it would all leave my mind, however after doing so what I didn't realise is that there would actually be graphic images of what happened!!! I know this is naive but I really didn't think at the time that this kind of stuff would be allowed on google images! I would say that it was very very upsetting and disturbing which is why I obviously clicked off straight away! Usually if someone without OCD would see this they would just click off and forget about it, however because of my OCD I then had to google the guys name a certain amount of times in order for the thought of this horrible thing to go away! 2 years on I never really previously thought about it that much but then recently it has just been popping up in my head and I try to forget about it and have even told my family but It just kind of makes me really anxious. My main anxious thought at the moment is more to do with what if in years to come I will tell my husband about my OCD and what if he thinks i'm crazy! Which I know i'm not, because I know that people do see stuff like that on the internet but they just forget about it after a while, however it hasn't for me. I think what i'm really looking for is someone who understands and say that i'm not mad, because I know I am a kind, gentle and positive person regardless of OCD. My family did tell me just to think about happy things and then it will go. But it's never that easy with OCD. Has anyone got any advice? It would be appreciated :)
