Installing Linux on a new machine.?

I plan on building a new PC from scratch. But I see that Linux Mint and many others are not compatible on windows 8 machines in UEFI mode. That's ok for me because I don't like dual booting anyways. But looking around the web I see no FM2 boards that don't come with UEFI bios. Will this be a problem installing Mint, or is this just if I bought a PC with Windows preinstalled?
