My jaw clicks/pops when I open it.?

Whenever I open my mouth my jaw click/ pops twice. I've had this since I think I was 8 or 9 and I'm 14 now, I'm totally used to it, infact it's become a habit to open my mouth every 10 or 15 minutes. And if it doesn't click/pop I get nervous. ANYWAYS. What happens if I don't do anything about it. It won't affect me? Btw: thankss(:
