Is it illegal to set up a voip system like team speak or ventril using you own home base comp / sever.?

Hi just wondering someone asked me if it illegal set up[ a home free voip multi system to have many people chatting in a Muti session system bit like team speak or ventrillo with out paying a penny to host of them severs
