Question #14968171

Does onset of menopause cause increased hair loss? If not what else could be causing this?

I know a woman (I am male) around age 49 who noticed per showering and washing her hair that there is more of her hair left behind in the shower than there use to be. She noticed this beginning around two weeks ago. If you look carefully at her you can see her hair is thinner than it was like a few months ago. Is this related to her being at an age when menopause can typically kick in? What else could be causing this? Thanks!
