Do True Christians today seriously believe they are just like the True Christians of ancient times?

Do they believe they are like the True Christians who walked with Jesus? The True Christians who slaughtered people in the Crusades? True Christians who beat their slaves? True Christians opposed interracial marriages? All of which were based on what was found in the bible. Oh, I know, they all had it wrong (minus obviously the ones who got to walk with Jesus), but we finally got our unchanging objective morals right, today, amirite?
