My laptop s brightness setting changes every time I lock my computer. How do I stop this?

I normally keep the brightness on my computer all the way up, but if it goes to sleep or I lock my computer, the brightness automatically sets itself to 0. This has been going on for a while, and I m sick of it. How do I stop this?
