Friend & pregnancy! Please help.?

One of my good friends is 3 or 4 days late for her period, she took a test this morning & she said it read "no" on a first response digital. Is she taking it too soon, or should she be using a line testt ! I didnt really know much too tell her soo if any of you know anything , it would be mch appreciated !!! Thanks :)
