if my pc resolution is at 800 by 600 and i play a 1080 hd movies in vlc will it play at full resolution?

i have connected my pc to my 32inch led tv and set the resolution at 800 by 600 (otherwise the text is difficult to read) if my pc resolution is at 800 by 600 and i play a 1080 hd movies in vlc will it play at full resolution or at 800 by 600?
