Violin and viola question?

Hi, I'm interested in viola or violin, haven't chosen. Sharmusic.com has Franz Hoffmann beginner instruments and I wanted to know if paying 229 or 369 for a viola alone, would I be getting a decent one? I would pay to purchase a decent case, bow, rosin, tuner, quality strings, and other things.
