Could a bear hug bend my spine?

3 months ago me and my friend were joking and he gave me a bear hug from the front and my back started to hurt after that and i keep feeling that it made my back bend more than normal can a bear hug make my lower back more bent than usaual? And just for you to know im a 17 year old male
