How to get him to text me first?

So there's this guy which I like and he likes me but he is really shy maybe he thinks he is annoying me when he texts me but it doesn't. So like a week ago we use to text eachother every day all the time but I was always say hi first or he would text me because he had something important to say. He also said to me he liked me in person. So then I didn't text him for 5 days (a long time to me) and he hasn't texted me. What do I do?
