I've lost my £5 credit on Vodafone?

I just got to the UK and I've bought a Vodafone micro SIM card and £5 worth of credit (separately) from a supermarket. Now when I call 2345 it says I don't have any credit on my phone. Why is that? How can I activate Vodafone's offer of 250 MB of data for £5?
