What are some of the proposed solutions towards climate change?

I am a conservative following the recent developments on climate change. Though I have my own opinions on some of the research and credibility of the phenomenon, I can concede that global climate change is likely a reality. I am however worried about what kinds of proposed solutions would be necessary. Viewing sights like CNN it becomes clear that the general consensus is for immediate and seemingly drastic lifestyle changes. But to what extent are these changes going to immediately effect American life? Are gas prices going to rise significantly more than they are now? I am concerned that changes like this could cause severe effects to our already damaged economy if the basic amenities we all live off of start rising in price. If I sound uninformed, it is because I am largely oblivious to the subject. Thank you for your time!
