Why does Flash Player Crash all the time?

Over the past year I would say Adobe flash player has become extremely glitchey. This is especially true when streaming videos. My main stream sites are youtube, netlfix and amazon.com. I would say every 2 video's flash crashes and I have to reload the page. Sometimes it's in the middle of an episode on netflix! I don't get it. Going back a year or two flash was always extremely reliable and almost never crashed or caused problems. Yet problems seem to be ramped the last year/ year and a half! Why has the quality of flash player declined so much. By the way these experiences are over several different computer running OS'S from Windows 7 to Windows 8.
