Android CUBOT C7 wifi reception problems?

I recently received a CUBOT C7 Android smart phone and it works fine more or less however the wifi reception on it is really bad, I can sit right next to the modem and I get two bars at best. I know its nothing to do with the modem because all of my other devices connect to it just fine. I have tried resetting the phone to factory default but that brought me no luck. As well as this I can only make emergancy calls from the phone and cannot connect to mobile data services. Can anyone help?
