When the guys is acting cold?

Hi guys, So I am seeing a guy for over a month now. We are both in our late 20's. I am one of those girls that need quiet a bit of attention and I am not talking present or anything like that more like sweet messages maybe some note from time to time or simply just to say something sweet to me. So I know one month is not long time and I dont expect him to say he loved me or he is in love with me...I seem to like this guy quiet a lot and I always try to do sweet things for him. I always send him sweet messages to which he usually replies me too or you too. Recently I send him a message with a sunrise picture and wished him a good day at work and he replied Hi, u 2...I got him a box of my favorite sweets when I traveled back to my country for holiday...then I got him a tea pot with a teacosy coz I know how much he loves tea...so I try to do like sweet things just to make him smile and to let him know that I care...however within this month and a bit I didnt get even one sweet message...he never says anything nice when I am around...I sort of brought up this question saying that he acts really distant and he was very apologetic saying that this is the way he is and that he used to be worst in a past but that now he is trying... It makes me sad when I hardly get a response from him and that he never shows affection. I really need an advice on how I could change it or should I just move on before I started having really string feeling for him? Many thanks
