should i ask if he wants a beer when he comes to pick it up?

my ex is picking up something i found at my house that he left and he said leave it on the front porch and i said i would and if i was home i won't bother him. his response was I just figured u didnt want to be bothered with me. Yea wherever you want to leave it, just let me know. Thank you should i have it inside so it won't get stolen and then ask him if he wants to have a beer and talk? I do miss him as a friend we spoke once in the last 4 monthes and it was him just yelling telling me to throw what i had found out like i did with everything he bought. I don't want to come off desperate but i miss my friend and maybe more i don't know.
