How to change fb profile picture without notifying friends?

As the question states, I'd like to know if it's possible to change my picture without fb notifying my friends in their news feed. Also, how do I set an existing photo in my Photos folder as a profile picture? I tried and it created a new picture of the same image. Answers to either (or both) question would be appreciated :)
