I studied and still got it wrong!!?

In the last 5 or so mins of studying I focused on one particular area. When I took the test, 40 mins later, a question regarding what I had just went over was on the test and I could only remember bits and pieces of it! I ended up getting it wrong. How does this happen if I had just gone over it??
