Where can I learn about sports history and current team rosters/stats?

Fresh out of college I'm looking to apply to video production jobs, and I need a crash course on sports knowledge and history for ESPN positions, which are most of the video jobs in CT. I know the rules, some of the plays for football, but I need rosters, teams, etc. I never got into sports hardcore when I was younger, and now it feels overwhelming to learn everything. Football is #1 pick for learning. Any links would be AWESOME
