Question #11050157

Why doesn't Apple put FLAC support into iTunes?

I have all my CD's stored as FLAC. This is due to Exact Audio Copy having much better error detection and correction over iTunes. Then my rips turn out sounding better, especially if I have a CD in questionable condition. Why will Apple not build support for it into iTunes? They support other codecs that are not proprietary to Apple - such as WAV, MP3 or AAC; yet they force you to use Apple Lossless instead of FLAC. This causes me to maintain two separate libraries if I want to listen to high-quality CD rips in iTunes or on an iPod.
