Tips with a new boyfriend?

Okay, so I am in middle school, and this boy always picked on me, but I liked him. I got hiom to express his feelings for me, and he asked me out. I'm afraid things willl be awkward and we wont be the good friends we used to be and we wont really pick on each other anymore. How do I keep this from happening?
