can you make it look like you dont have gauges?

i have 4g gauges and my mom constantly freaks out about it and gets really mad. my thing is why cant she let me be me? well whether she likes it or not i'm going up to a 2g soon and i want to know if there is a way for like formal events or a job if you can make it look like you don't have gauges?
