Did I just have my first period?

Okay so I'm 13 years old. I have an ovarian cist. I went to the bathroom and there was blood in my panties. I figured it popped because I've had one pop before and in both cases I was in extreme pain the night before. I wiped and there was a little dried blood. Then I peed and there was no blood. I didn't put a panty liner in. I went into my room and a few hours later I felt discharge which I have quite frequently. It had a pinkish reddish tint to it. I changed panties and put a panty liner in. I'm laying in bed so uncomfortable from the pad because I've never worn one. Did I start my period? If so what are some tips to feel more comfortable in panty liners especially in bed? Thanks!
