Algebra question help?

A local veterinarian has an average of 34 cats and dogs housed in the hospital. Per day, the cats each eat one half can of food and the dogs each eat one AND a half can of food. For each day, the animals eat together 36 cans of food. How many cats and dogs are in the kennel?
