Do you think we would be better off with a single ideology in power as opposed...?

to a split(even schizophrenic) system like we have now? I mean would we be better off with a purely Liberal or Conservative system? If liberal, we would have higher taxes, but thus be able to fund more support programs like food stamps/Medicaid etc. If Conservative we'd have lower taxes but less expenditures. Currently, I think part of our problems is trying to run a Liberal style government on a Conservative style tax system with high spending and low taxes. Your thoughts?
