What is a good book series to get into?

I'll usually read any kind of genre, though supernatural type stuff (ghosts, telekinisis, ect.) I'm not too big on. Any suggestions?All of my friends have suggest Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, etc., basically a lot of really popular series, so if anyone happens to know any lesser known ones to recomend they're welcome.^^ Many thanks in advance!
