How to correct my hair?

My hair was blonde (naturally med brown). I wanted to go back to med brown; used 10 volume, 6n & 5nw redkin gels. It came out real dark brown and has a lot of red in it. I'd like to remove the red and lighter from a dark to medium brown but now im not sure what to use. Can anyone with experience help?
