My gran has left me money in a will?

One of my family members deals with all her finances etc and talking to the solicitor. And they have said when they have got my money they will give it me. But how do I know they are giving me the amount I was left in the will. Does the solicitor write a cheque out to me so no one else can use it?? Or what? Surely there is something in place so I rightfully get exactly the amount left to me and my other family cannot keep any?? Thanks
