How can i write the audio cd files on a raw cd?

the other days,i heard from my friends that we can use windows media player to burn audio files (actually to change them to mp3 files) ;as you know the audio files are not burnable.i 'd greatly appreciate anyone who can give me some info on this.thanks in advance.
