Question #12200128

Your opinion on books for teens?

I can enjoy a nice little story for kids; they are fun and relaxing, and usually have some cute jokes in them. The fact that they are unrealistic is very forgivable, since it's meant for children. I can enjoy mature books with a lot of adult content, often portraying realistic tragedies that people endure, as well as foul humor that can be appealing at times. Then there is the middle ground... For some reason I just can't stand it. Books that are tailored for a teen audience get on my nerves. Teen stories are unrealistic stories that try to be realistic. In a children's story, it would be a group of ten-year-olds pulling pranks to get revenge on a group of bullies; nothing really wrong with that. In a teen book, it would be a sixteen-year-old leading a rebellion against the government. I'm all for suspending disbelief, but come on...
