hair dye wont stay in my hair D:?

I have dirty blonde hair (blonde enough to dye). I have dyed the bottom of my hair brown, and it was cheap dye and it faded in like 2 washes. I also have dyed it brown with manic panic which is semi permanent and my hair doesn't take the dye good, and that came out in one wash. I am going to go to Sally's Beauty Supply to get a great dye (dark brown), leave suggestions, and get blue manic panic for the underneath, so how do I get the dye to stay?
