Exchanging something to American Eagle?

I bought a sweatshirt a few months ago threw tags away and never wore it so I put it back in the bag, put it in my closet and forgot about it now I can't find the receipt! Can I exchange it without either? I used a rewards card when I bought it (not a credit card though)...it's a complete waste if I can't...thanks
