Dark Brown Discharge After Unprotected Intercourse?

I had unprotected intercourse (stupid, I know) a little less than a week ago. Three days after I had a light brown discharge (and a little bit of cramping) and now its dark brown almost black, It doesn't leak onto my underwear or clothes, it doesn't have an odor. My partner never released inside of me though. I called my gyno and he said it was completely normal and it was probably leftover blood from my menstrual cycle, but I don't believe it is, because I am in the middle of ovulating. Help!!
