Which web hosting service do you use/recommend?

I'm looking for a suitable web hosting service for a college project. I'd appreciate some suggestions. My only real requirement is being able to use PHP and MySQL on it. I'd prefer a UK based service, if possible. The cheaper, the better, but it doesn't need to be free web hosting.
