How long will fake nails last if they're applied with the double sided sticky tape for nails?

I'm looking for options to put on fake nails without harming my natural nails. My thumb nail broke so far that I had no other choice but to cut it off. So it's kind of naked...plus it's December and I want to do some nice Christmas designs on my nails (in which one of them include doing french tips in a candy cane style). I don't want to use nail glue at all. The last time I used it on my ring finger nail, it made my nail very weak. That was my first and last time ever! Haha, but I would like to know how long the nails would last on my nail if I used the double sided sticky tape for fake nails?
