How do i convince my parents to let me shave off my dreads?

I got dreads about a year ago. But now Im not as in to them as I used to be. I want to shave my head. But my dad paid hundreds of dollars to the guy who did my dreads. I don't think my dad will want me to shave my dreads because he paid so much. But I want normal hair again. How do I convince him to let me get rid of the Dreads?
