how to spot 14mm stretched ears closing?

I just got a new job and I have to take my tunnels out, but I've never done this for long periods of time before. my piercings heal super fast like I can only take my nose and tragus out for about half an hour before it's painful to put them back in. I can't wear hider plugs for work so how do I keep them from closing when I'm working 8 hour shifts??
