my cat has ringworms but?

I took my cat to vet and he got ringworms. He presecribed antifungala shampoo and anti fungal oral meds. Problem my mother and me share a single room apartment. My mom has a circular ring that looks like ring worms. I'm 23 and don't seem to see any rings and was told my immune system is fighting it off.. my question since cat is in same room and no way to quarantine it..is it even possible to cure cat and do I have to give cat to vet or shelter that can quarantine it?
