How to move to a new city/state?

I am 20 and living in Iowa with my 2 year old. I want to go to school for dental hygiene and after I graduate I want to move to Nashville, TN. I want to know if anyone has advice on how to execute such a big transition. I would have to find a job and buy a house and time everything perfectly. I guess what I am asking is if there is a good formula to get a job and find living arrangements by yourself to get so far away. Any advice is helpful. Thanks.
