Do you think people should base their relationships on love compatibility?

Hi I am asking this because I have really strong feelings for this guy but I am a Aquarius and he is a Virgo all the compatibility things said the relationship will be "bad" but I have known him since kindergarten and I truly really like him. What is your intake on basing relationships on love compatibility?
