Jjewish people, a question in regards to the Torah?

In Isaiah 7:14, I'm just curious. is the word Almah truly Virgin, or young woman? I've heard from some Jewish friends parents that it is young woman, and in no way virgin, and then I've spoken to some Jewish people who have accepted Christianity, who say that Almah can not mean anything but virgin in context. Is that a prophecy of the Messiah? Or is it a prophecy of things to happen at that moment and not the messiah? Jewish speaking people only please.
