If your parents get you something for Christmas that you don't want...?

Should you keep the gift or politely tell them it's not really what you wanted and that they should return it? Or maybe exchange it for something else in the store? Like if they got you something that you didn't tell them to get and you don't want it, what should you do? I really don't want to sound ungrateful.
