How do I enable my TV speakers?

I was trying to watch something on my laptop and no sound was coming out. I had just unplugged it from my TV and in the volume control it showed that it was still using the TV connection and not my local speakers. So I went in to "Sound," and "Playback," and disabled it. But now I cannot get the sound to go through my TV anymore. When I plug up the HDMI it only projects on the TV and it doesn't put the sound through. When I go backinto Sound under the control tab it doesn't show any playback devices other than my PC speakers. How can I re-enable my TV for audio?
