Skis beat up after firs time riding?

i just purchased armada el rays, and i rode them for the frist time yesterday. whe i looked at them today, they seemed really beat up. the tops are really scratched and some parts a re chipped, it even looks like some specs of plastic are peeling off. the bottom looks completely fine, and ideas on how i can fix and prevent this?
