My computer won't connect to the internet?

I left for a few days over Christmas, but before that my brothers PC wouldn't connect to the internet. So I just said to leave it unplugged and it should be fine when we get back. 4 days later it's still not working. I have turned it on and off multiple times, got him a different Ethernet cable, reset the router etc. I have no other ideas. Please help.
