How to play ipods' music through laptop?

I am trying to plug in my ipod into a different computer then the one it is synced to to play music through that computers speakers. Problem is, I don't know how to make it so I can just scroll through my music and play it from the laptops' speakers, instead of my ipod. I am plugging it in using the normal usb cord you get with the ipod, and it is an ipod touch, the 8gig one. I set it to manually manage music and whatnot but it still does not show up when I plug it in. Any help would be appreciated.
