Should I join the gym?
I'm looking to join a gym which is about £25 a month for a minimum of 6 months (I'm moving in 8 months so that's good). It's the only ok, accessible, not overly priced gym in my area. I try to run at nights but in the winter it's miserable and I usually can't be bothered after a long day and I'm starting to get bored with it. I started running about 4 months ago but I've been majorly slicking off since the Christmas holidays started and now I can't get myself motivated to start again. I also don't think I push myself as hard as I could when I do actually run. Has anyone else had this and found the gym to be a good alternative? I think a nicer atmosphere, somewhere where everyone is there just to work out (I've had the odd nasty comment shouted at me by teenage boys because apparently someone who is 10lb overweight is hilarious whilst running) would be helpful. I think other people being there would motivate me to keep going too. I also think it would be good to use some of the other equipment - I tried a friends multigym the other day and struggled to lift 10lb with my arms; I don't want bulging muscles, I just want to be able to lift something more than my cat! And I think the variety of changing between the different equiptment would be nice too. My only concern is is it worth spending £150 - £200 on a gym for 6-8 months?
