Why is my canary bird not laying eggs?

Hi I have two canary birds 1 yellow female one called Tweety and 1 red male one called Mango I love them soo,soo,soo much!! So I bought a nest for them I made some materials and put them in the floor its been 8 or 9 days since I bought the nest but Ive had them for a year now. So why is Tweety not making the nest and why is she not breeding. I really want her to have a baby! How can I get her to lay some eggs? And why is she not doing it? Please dont give me bador silly answers atherwise I will report it. Thank you very much.
